JUST A NOTE FROM RED !

  • Hi Guys,

    Well I hope you all had a great time in Jacksonville Fl. Della and did, had a chance to Talk to a lot of you. Al did a good job setting it up and all went well.

    I would like to thank all that helped out, Jim Love, Kathy Schnell, Elaine Smith,

    Margaret Cole, Della Smith , Liz Quigley  Elaine  Morlier   and Ron Hoak who did a great job displaying all Our memories. If I forgot anyone please forgive me I’m OLD !

    So we all agreed to have our next Princeton Reunion in Albuquerque NM. That will be fun.

    We (Della and I) will do our best to make it all work just as nice as we can.

    My father Ronald Peers shipmate from 1950-53 passed away on May 14, 2014. He is survived by his wife Dolores . He was a life member

    • John served in the United States Navy on the USS Princeton during World War II. He also served during the Korean War era..

            I am writing you to report our Dad’s death on 3-27-17. Dad lived to be 89. He enjoyed wearing his blue USS Princeton cap. We placed it in his hands in the casket. Thank you for reaching out to him.

      It is with great sorrow that I pass on the information of the passing (or birth into Heaven) of a member of one of my divisions and The USS Princeton Veterans that of Levi Suazo at 2:00 AM August 19th 2018. We have lost a shipmate and a brother.

    David Elmore Brown, 87, of Leesburg, Florida, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Leesburg, FL. He was born August 28,1927 in Leesburg, Florida. David was a Veteran and retired after 30 years in the Navy and was in the Korean War, WWII, and Vietnam War. He was a survivor of the Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Saratoga, USS Princeton, and the USS Boxer to name a few.     Following graduation from college, Bill entered the U.S. Navy as a LTJG, serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Princeton
    He was on the ship 1953 – 1954 .
    while attached to the Pacific Fleet.

    Jim DeMonbrun passed away on Friday March 6th. The service was on Friday, March 20th. . It was a long illness starting with Type 2 Diabetes. He was in the Navy Band..

    John Thomas Fowler, age 75, of Koleen, passed away on Friday morning, June 6, 2014, at his residence.
    He spent 57 years of serving the public and country. He served in the US Navy, USS Princeton in V-1 division at the end of the Korean War, 1955-1959..

    Robert “Bob” James Boland.. was born on April 30, 1946 in Swea City to William Sr. and Nina (Ollenburg) Boland. Bob was born in the Forbes Hospital, which is now the Swea City Historical House. He passed away unexpectedly at Fairmont Hospital on Friday, January 23, 2015 at the age of 68.
    Bob served in the U.S. Navy.1965 1968 on the USS Princeton in R-Division

    Donald Edwin “Don” Brooks, age 85, was born September 6, 1930 in Hugo, OK.Don was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954 on the USS Princeton.
    He was in V-3 Division.

      STEPHEN KEELEY Stephen T. Keeley, 72, of Las Vegas, passed away March 3, 2016, after a long, brave battle with cancer.
      Stephen proudly served in the U.S.Navy aboard the USS Princeton LPH-5 1062-1964.

        Brushton- John “Jack” Byrnes, 87, passed away Friday evening (January 10, 2014) at his home, with the love and support of his family at his side. Funeral arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.

        John, the son of the late John Francis & Emma (Brainard) Byrnes, was born October 30th, 1926 in Rochester, NY. After graduating from Brushton High School in 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy, and was assigned to serve on the aircraft carrier USS Princeton. After his Honorable discharge in 1946

      July 21, 1928 – April 6, 2016

      Born in Buffalo, NY to John and Ruth Colern.
      Richard joined the US Navy Jan. 11, 1946. Assignments included COMNRVPHIL USS Sperry, Gen. Randall. MSTS, Seattle, Wash., MSTO Portland, OR. and the USS Princeton (LPH5). Among his memorable experience was Operation Dominic (A Bomb test.) the Princeton being flag ship for JTF – 8 at Johnstson Island, witnessing 12 atomic devices detonated
      He will be missed!… sail on our shipmate !

    Died on January 29, 2017 served in the Korean War in the United States Navy from 1952 — 1954 on the USS Princeton which was an Aircraft Carrier and he held a rank of Seaman..
    We will miss him … he was great Bar tender…and always made me laugh.

    75, died on May 8, 2017,after a long and heroic battle with cancer Herbert Goins. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served proudly on the aircraft carrier USS Princeton as a boilermaker.

  14. Lester M. “Shop 1” McClure, 90, of Harrisburg, died Thursday, June 28, 2018, in UPMC – Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
    He was a retired Chief Master Mechanic for the City of Harrisburg – Bureau of Fire, known as “Shop 1”. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran – WWII, having served on the
    USS Princeton CVL-23.

          John G. Mihalko

          Manville – John G. Mihalko, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2018 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lansford, Pennsylvania the son of the late George and Barbara Mihalko. Mr. Mihalko was a resident of Manville, NJ for many years before moving to Spring Lake, NJ where he had lived for 30 years. He then moved back to Manville, NJ where he lived for the past 18 years. He served his Country Honorably in the United States Navy on the USS Princeton during World War II.

  15. Floyd Eugene Derby 1942—2019
    German Valley – Floyd Eugene Derby, 76, of German Valley, passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at Walnut Acres nursing home in Freeport after a long battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia. He was born December 25, 1942 in Freeport and grew up in Forreston. He graduated from Forreston High School in 1961 and then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving with his brother Robert Derby, aboard the USS Princeton LPH-5 during the Vietnam War from August 22, 1961 to August 17, 1965. He achieved the rate of Radioman 2nd class with Top Secret cryptographic clearance.

    • Joseph P Gordon was on the Princeton in S 1 division 45 – 46
      Joe was a World War Two veteran of the United States Navy and was
      deployed on the USS Princeton CV 37 in June of 1945.
